Responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. May require a bachelor’s degree and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Buyers are primarily responsible for the acquisition of company materials and services, management of vendors, and monitoring the flow of goods and services in our supply chain. Quality, on-time delivery, and cost management are critical to the success of the company, and are the main priorities of the Purchasing Agent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager
Qualifications:
BA/BS degree (or 7 yrs. experience in direct buying role) 5-7 yrs. experience in purchasing and planning
Desired:
Prepare requests for quotes and purchase orders. Analyze costs and negotiate prices for goods and services. Monitor existing orders to ensure on time deliveries. Communicate with vendors regarding delivery schedules, quality issues, and cost concerns. Expedite supplier orders as required to support production. Build vendor base as required. Experience with MS Office products (Excel, Word etc) and Costpoint Problem solving skills a must.
