Full Job Description Company Overview:

Summary:

Under administrative direction, supports the sourcing, planning, purchasing, and scheduling of raw materials (chemical, packaging, contract manufacturing, Turnkey FG, MRO) utilizing MRP to order and maintain necessary stock levels required for production requirements. Works with Logistics, Planning, Sales and Production functions to coordinate materials to meet customer demand. Assists in the negotiation of price, freight, and terms with supplies to minimize costs under direct supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following: Prepares instructions regarding purchasing systems and procedures. Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices. Concentrates orders with vendors for multiple branches in order to gain lowest unit and freight costs. Schedules vendor deliveries and quantities according to stock requirements and to maximize cash flow. Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability. Constantly searches for alternative suppliers and lower unit and freight costs to achieve the maximum corporate margin. Investigates new stock and vendor lines to expand items offered to customers and to support packaging of sales. Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy. Analyzes inventory turns and levels for each product line and determines appropriate stock levels for each warehouse location according to a Just-in-Time approach. Maintains appropriate stock levels of all product lines in each warehouse by gaining the assistance of warehouse personnel as to on hand levels and through the use of cycle counts. Responsible for maintaining regular cycle counting and verification of inventories. Responsible for safeguarding of inventories through enforcement of established procedures. Expedites requests from salesmen for materials from all branches by contacting vendors and placing orders. Negotiates terms, unit costs, and freight charges with vendors Maintains appropriate product stock levels at satellite warehouses. Maintains the critical parameters in the ERP (Process-Pro) system such as Order point, minimum order quantity, lead times etc. to ensure sufficient materials are on hand. Expedites requests from sales team for materials from all branches by contacting vendors and placing orders. Negotiates shortest lead times, terms, unit costs, and freight charges with vendors. Assists with regularly scheduled cycle counts and physical inventory counts. Serve as a back-up to Purchasing Manager during high-volume and/or vacation situations. Assist in monitoring for lowest cost delivery of raw materials and supplies, inspecting receiving documentation for compliance to internal controls and procedures. Schedule Transfers of materials and raw goods. Communicates with other departments the status of materials and updates the ERP Prevents stock outs by properly analyzing usage, supply lead times, and proper stock level counts. Keeps redistribution of stock to other warehouses to a minimum. Maintain purchases at lowest possible unit and freight costs on all stock items for all warehouses. Determines least cost routing or quantity purchased to mitigate or minimize freight. Maintains vendor relations. Searches for new suppliers and lines at lowest unit and freight costs to achieve the best contribution margin. Plans to purchase quantities that should be sold according to the data on turns by the time the vendor invoice is due to be paid, to maximize cash flows. Maintain adequate stock levels to meet company goals. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

This position has a base salary range of $67,500.00 – $75,420.00. The salary range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic location.

Bonus Pay:

Meridian offers a performance-based incentive plan tied to company success. Eligible employees have the opportunity to earn a percentage of their salary, with bonus payments distributed yearly.
