The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services essential for construction projects. This role requires excellent negotiation skills, a strong understanding of supply chain logistics, and the ability to maintain strong relationships with vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. This position requires strong analytical skills, and attention to detail. Duties Process purchase requisitions and convert them into purchase orders accurately and efficiently. Source and identify qualified vendors and suppliers for various construction materials, equipment, and services (e.g., concrete, steel, lumber, heavy machinery rentals, specialized contractors). Obtain competitive bids, negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure the best value for the company. Place orders, track delivery schedules, and expedite orders as necessary to meet project timelines. Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with new and existing vendors and suppliers. Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and service. Resolve any vendor-related issues, discrepancies, or disputes promptly and professionally. Work closely with project managers and site superintendents to understand material needs and project schedules. Coordinate logistics for material delivery to various job sites, ensuring proper documentation and receipt. Assist in managing inventory levels for common materials and tools, minimizing waste and optimizing storage. Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred. 2-4 years of experience in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain role, preferably within the construction industry. Proficiency in purchasing software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems (e.g., Spectrum, Sage, construction-specific software). Strong negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and work under pressure to meet deadlines. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
