Purchasing Agent – Residential Construction About the Opportunity We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team in the residential homebuilding industry. This role is essential to maintaining high standards in budget management, contractor relations, and procurement processes, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency throughout every stage of construction. Key Responsibilities Develop and manage budgets and cost analyses with input from internal departments Source and negotiate contracts with suppliers and trade partners to ensure best pricing and value Evaluate bids, proposals, and long/short-term contract opportunities for efficiency and reliability Collaborate on scopes of work to ensure quality control and consistency in materials and services Perform value engineering reviews of construction drawings and recommend cost-saving measures Identify and prequalify new vendors while maintaining relationships with existing partners Act as a liaison across construction, sales, land development, and customer service teams Conduct quantity take-offs for budgets and bids; manage take-off data in relevant software systems Participate in job site visits to evaluate subcontractor performance and adherence to scope Assist with other duties as needed in support of purchasing and estimating functions What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree required; 4+ years of purchasing/estimating experience in residential construction Strong background in homebuilding, construction materials, and supplier negotiation Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with building codes, OSHA regulations, and general construction best practices High ethical standards and professional decision-making ability Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills; strong analytical and budgeting capabilities Experience in cost estimating, procurement systems, and vendor management Preferred Experience Working knowledge of purchasing/production software such as BuildPro/SupplyPro Experience with ERP systems like
