We are partnered with a new construction homebuilder who is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Agent with experience in residential construction. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing goods and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement in alignment with company standards and project goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and evaluate suppliers, materials, and services to support construction projects. Select, pre-qualify, and manage a roster of dependable trade partners and vendors. Monitor and manage option costs and sales pricing to align with market conditions and profit margins. Initiate lot starts and ensure unit costs are accurate prior to release. Maintain and track project budgets, ensuring cost accuracy and transparency. Input and manage direct cost data within internal budgeting systems. Solicit proposals, negotiate pricing, and secure favorable terms for contracts and purchase orders. Process purchase orders and maintain clear documentation of all procurement activities. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and trade partners. Prepare detailed cost reports and analyze variances for internal review.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; equivalent experience also considered. 2-3 years of purchasing experience with a new construction homebuilder required Experience with construction management software (e.g., Newstar, Build Pro) is a plus. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills. Strong analytical and research abilities. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
