The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the procurement process, ensuring that materials and supplies are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively. This position requires strong negotiation skills, an understanding of supply chain logistics, and the ability to work with various systems to maintain optimal inventory levels. Also need to know and/ or Inventory Programs Like Fishbowl Inventory , microsoft office . Duties Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with company goals. Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing. Manage inventory control processes to ensure adequate stock levels while minimizing excess. Utilize MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems for effective materials management. Collaborate with logistics teams to coordinate timely delivery of goods. Analyze market trends and supplier performance to inform purchasing decisions. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels using AS400 or similar systems. Work closely with cross-functional teams to forecast material needs based on production schedules. Requirements Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar role within supply chain management. Strong understanding of contract negotiation and procurement processes. Familiarity with materials management principles and inventory control practices. Proficiency in using MRP systems and logistics software; experience with Edwards is a plus. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess supplier performance effectively. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with suppliers and internal teams. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment. A degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
