JOB SUMMARY
The Purchasing Agent II is a mid-level procurement professional responsible for managing the purchasing process of goods and services within their assigned region(s). This position is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and procuring goods and services by researching vendors and suppliers, negotiating pricing, and issuing purchase orders. A successful candidate in this position will be able to ensure timely delivery of quality products while maintaining cost-effectiveness and compliance with our company policies. In addition, this position could participate in specialized procurement projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Requests and evaluates vendor quotes for inventory requirements and projects Manage supplier relationships and set up new vendors Create and issue purchase orders in a timely manner Research and evaluate new vendors and suppliers, selecting the most suitable based on quality, price, performance, delivery, and other criteria Negotiates best price, delivery, and quality between vendors Negotiate volume discounts when applicable Review daily inventory stock levels to determine appropriate reorder points, min/max levels, and lead times Manage shipments to ensure on-time delivery, expedite orders when required, and follow up on undelivered goods Follow up and confirm all purchase orders are received by the vendor Communicate with internal customers and vendors on defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action Communicate all changes in equipment provided by the vendors with internal customers Maintain electronic documentation records for all services and materials Comply with all Purchasing and Company policies and procedures, best practices, and government / state regulations Provide guidance to internal customers and vendors on Purchasing topics and questions Evaluate pricing trends to determine market price Serves as a resource to assist in resolving complex purchasing and supply chain issues with the assistance of the Supply Chain Manager Work with Project Managers and participate in projects by providing recommendations to optimize the purchasing requirements Interview vendors and visit suppliers’ plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in purchasing or supply chain Basic to intermediate understanding of how the purchasing / supply chain process works within an ERP system Knowledge of the purchasing/supply chain module within GP is a plus, but not required Intermediate skill level of experience working with MS Office, with an emphasis on Outlook, Excel, Word, and Sharepoint Excellent negotiation skills that will secure optimal deals Highly detail oriented and organized in work Ability to multitask Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus Ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from the Supply Chain Manager to accomplish objectives Ability to maintain confidentiality of information Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results

QUALIFICATIONS & PREREQUISITES
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics, or 2+ years’ experience in purchasing / supply chain experience.
