Primary Function:
The Corporate Purchasing Agent role is designed to develop and implement all stated goals and objectives related to commodity management, obsolete inventory management, contract bidding, contract management, sourcing, vendor selection, pricing, data analysis, continuous improvement projects, supply chain management.
Responsibilities:
Commodity Management
- Oversight of the production and distribution of commodities that include but are not limited to Retail overwrap film, whole bird/roaster bags, liver/gizzard cups and lids.
Obsolete Inventory Management - Minimize obsolete inventory associated customer brand transitions and achieve annual corporate inventory value goals.
Contract Bidding - Initiate, analyze, and negotiate vendor contract pricing on behalf of the company to optimize overall spend. Provide recommendations to Director for final negotiations and execution. Contract management
- Ensure all parties comply with contract terms including supplier, field purchasing, and field operations
Vendor Sourcing - Pursuing current and prospective vendors to evaluate their ability to provide material based on current needs and Purchasing objectives.
Data Analysis - Includes but is not limited to RFQ opportunities during bidding, monthly usage & spend reports, process improvement opportunities, and reviewing periodic raw material market reports such as Pulp & Paper Weekly, Chem Data, etc.
Continuous Improvement - Identify all commodity opportunities to standardize and consolidate items for cost savings, simplification of product mix for our internal/external customers, and increasing economies of scale for vendors.
Supply Chain - Maintain close communication with vendors and internal customers to ensure our zero-downtime initiative is achieved at all times. Coordinate with suppliers, field purchasing, and field operations to prevent all potential disruptions to the company and any associated parties.
Sustainability - Maintain knowledge of both internal and external sustainability initiatives stated by our leadership, vendors, customers, and local municipalities to remain competitive and test/present sustainable opportunities.
Education:
Bachelor of Science or greater in Business Administration, Package Engineering, Accounting, or related field.
Experience & Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and use of formulas, P-tables, etc.
Desire to learn all aspects of Purchasing for professional growth.
Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.
Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects at once.
Attitude of continuous improvement and innovation.
Ability to consistently operate with a sense of urgency in everything we do.
Develop and maintain strategic relationships with suppliers and internal customers.
Strategic mindset.
Proficient communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Long periods of focus on data analysis while sitting and/or standing. Safety Requirement
