Job Description
Pharmacy Purchasing Agent Cone Health United States, North Carolina, Burlington Jun 19, 2025 The Pharmacy Purchasing Agent reviews and supports the purchasing and inventory functions of the pharmacy by acting as a liaison between the pharmacy and the distributor. Working under limited supervision, this role ensures that the pharmacy purchases pharmaceuticals, supplies, and equipment within a constrained budget, minimizing costs, as well as meets quality standards. Supports the maintenance of accurate documentation of the pharmacy’s inventory and identifies pharmacy drugs and supplies that need to be ordered.
Assists in the review of the purchasing needs of both inpatient and outpatient pharmacies, coordinating inventory restock and purchasing to not exceed budget.
Records the cost of orders against the pharmacy department’s budget to manage expenses.
Escalates urgent purchasing needs to leader to ensure that pharmacy inventory needs are met.
Liaises with manufacturer’s representatives to obtain important drug or equipment information that will inform buying decisions.
Processes invoices and physically performs inventory reconciliation to ensure medical drugs and supplies have been accurately delivered.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
