Description:
We are looking for a detail-oriented and results-driven Category Buyer to manage the procurement and inventory performance of Eden Brother’s seasonal flower bulbs. This role is responsible for sourcing products, maintaining vendor relationships, managing inventory levels, and supporting category growth through data-driven purchasing decisions. Salaried Exempt Requirements:
Purchasing & Procurement Place and manage purchase orders for assigned product categories to meet forecasted demand and inventory targets. Source new products and vendors as needed to support assortment expansion and cost improvements. Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods through coordination with suppliers and internal teams. Monitor open orders and resolve discrepancies or delays. Vendor Coordination Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, availability, and service consistency. Assist in negotiations of pricing, delivery terms, and product agreements. Work with vendors to address product quality issues, late deliveries, or service failures. Inventory & Forecasting Review inventory reports and sales trends to determine replenishment needs. Assist in demand forecasting by analyzing historical data, promotional plans, and seasonal trends. Maintain appropriate inventory levels to avoid stockouts and overstock. Recommend adjustments to inventory plans based on performance and upcoming demand. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work with Operations, Finance, and Marketing teams to align inventory with promotional calendars and product launches. Coordinate with Operations to ensure proper product flow and warehouse efficiency. Collaborate with Customer Service to resolve product or delivery issues that affect customers. Work closely with Finance to manage category invoices and payables. Data Analysis & Reporting Track and analyze category performance metrics such as inventory turns, service levels, and cost variances. Prepare regular reports to support business reviews and purchasing decisions. Support budgeting efforts by maintaining accurate cost data and providing spend forecasts. Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 2-4 years of purchasing, buying, or merchandising experience—preferably in E-Commerce, horticulture, consumer goods, or manufacturing. Strong Excel and/or ERP system proficiency (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Odoo). Solid communication and organizational skills with attention to detail. Analytical thinker with the ability to interpret data and make sound purchasing decisions. Preferred Experience in vendor negotiations or working with third-party suppliers. Familiarity with demand forecasting or inventory planning tools. Understanding of category-specific trends, seasonality, and market dynamics.
