About the role We are actively seeking a highly motivated and analytical Strategic Sourcing Specialist to join our dynamic Supply Chain team. This critical role is at the forefront of our truck acquisition strategy, focusing on comprehensive market analysis, identifying new sourcing channels, and proactively prospecting and qualifying top-tier truck suppliers across the United States. You will be instrumental in expanding Billor’s network of high-quality, reliable truck sources to meet our ambitious fleet growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Intelligence & Strategic Analysis:
Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging truck supply trends, pricing dynamics, and new sourcing opportunities. Develop strategic insights to inform procurement decisions.
New Supplier Prospecting & Development:
Proactively identify, evaluate, and engage with potential truck suppliers (e.g., manufacturers, large dealerships, fleet owners, auction houses, brokers) that align with Billor’s stringent quality, volume, and cost requirements.
Supplier Qualification & Onboarding Collaboration:
Work closely with our Supplier Quality & Development function to guide new prospects through Billor’s rigorous qualification and onboarding processes, ensuring compliance and alignment.
Relationship Management:
Build and maintain robust, long-term relationships with key contacts at both prospective and existing suppliers, fostering collaboration and maximizing value.
Negotiation & Contract Support:
Support early-stage negotiations for terms, conditions, and pricing with new suppliers. Prepare comprehensive analyses to aid in optimal deal structuring.
Sourcing Pipeline Management:
Develop and manage a strong pipeline of potential suppliers, tracking progress from initial contact through to approved supplier status.
Performance Insight & Feedback:
Provide valuable market feedback and initial supplier performance assessments to contribute to our ongoing supplier management strategies. Stay abreast of industry trends, new truck technologies, and regulatory changes impacting the commercial trucking market. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. 3+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or business development, with a strong background in the automotive, heavy equipment, or commercial trucking industry. Proven expertise in conducting market research, supplier identification, and new source development. Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies. Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, capable of influencing both internal stakeholders and external partners. Self-starter, highly organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Fluent English, both written and verbal, is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
Direct experience in purchasing or sourcing heavy-duty trucks. Familiarity with various truck manufacturers and models (Freightliner, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo) and their respective markets in the US. Experience in a high-growth company or startup environment. Understanding of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for commercial vehicles.
