Overview:
Our client, a precision technology manufacturer based in Fairport, NY, is a global leader in monitoring and protection devices for high-value electrical assets. With a rich history dating back to 1945, they serve the power generation, transmission, and distribution industries by providing critical equipment that helps prevent downtime and improve asset reliability. Their innovation-driven culture supports mission-critical systems around the world, and they are currently looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join their team.
Position Summary:
The Buyer will play a key role in supporting the company’s manufacturing and supply chain operations. This role is ideal for someone with 0-3 years of purchasing experience who is eager to grow in a fast-paced, production-focused environment. The successful candidate will handle purchase order processing, vendor communication, price management, and inventory support, acting as the first line of defense against pricing issues and delivery delays.
Key Responsibilities:
Review material requisitions and process purchase orders in a timely, accurate manner
Maintain purchase order hygiene, including confirmations, price accuracy, and delivery dates
Collaborate with vendors on pricing, order acknowledgments, and delivery follow-up
Monitor inventory levels and ensure availability to support production demand
Proactively identify and address issues with pricing, shipments, and invoicing
Support production teams and value streams with timely procurement support
Utilize Oracle (preferred) for purchasing and material planning tasks
Participate in lean initiatives and identify opportunities for cost and waste reduction
Adhere to procurement best practices and ethical purchasing standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred
0-3 years of experience in purchasing or a related role (internships welcome)
Familiarity with KanBan or other pull-based inventory systems is a plus
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; ERP experience (Oracle preferred, SAP acceptable)
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Ability to problem-solve, escalate issues appropriately, and maintain professionalism under pressure
Work Environment:
Office and manufacturing floor setting (safety glasses required on production floor)
Occasional overtime may be required
Must be comfortable in a fast-moving, team-oriented environment
