Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to join our team in East Rochester, New York. In this Contract-to-permanent role, you will play a key part in managing procurement activities, ensuring the efficient acquisition of goods and services while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with vendors and internal teams to meet organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
- Create and process purchase orders while ensuring compliance with company policies and accuracy of all documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and securing competitive pricing for goods and services.
- Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure timely restocking.
- Conduct price negotiations with vendors to achieve cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Maintain organized records of purchases, contracts, and agreements, reconciling invoices with purchase orders to ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and other departments to streamline procurement processes and resolve any issues efficiently.
- Research market trends, evaluate new products, and assess supplier offerings to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Address and resolve discrepancies or issues related to orders and deliveries promptly to maintain smooth operations. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in business or supply chain management is a plus.
- Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with procurement software and systems to enhance efficiency in purchasing tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accuracy in purchase orders, invoices, and related documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and vendor negotiations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Analytical mindset to evaluate supplier offerings, compare pricing, and make strategic purchasing decisions.
- Commitment to ethical conduct and integrity when dealing with suppliers and internal teams.
