We are a fast-paced office looking for an individual that can manage multiple tasks and work independently. Key responsibilities of the job include: Researching and identifying appropriate vendors for our stock and special-order items Sourcing special merchandise items via catalogs and the internet Placing purchase orders for both special merchandise items and select key vendors Calling vendors to negotiate prices and follow up on delivery Contacting suppliers to schedule and expedite deliveries Resolving supply shortages, missed/late deliveries, and other day-to-day issues that may arise Purchasing experience is preferred along with some building supply product knowledge, but we are willing to train if you are otherwise qualified. Other qualifications we are looking to find are: Strong creativity and critical thinking skills, computer skills, and a willingness to learn. Also important are excellent customer service skills, verbal communication skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to be helpful. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus. A college degree is preferred. Preference will be given to those who live in the lower Westchester area.
