Overview:

Our Job Planner/ Buyer is a key member of our manufacturing team. The Planner/ Buyer reports to the Customer Service/ Engineering Manager. In this role the Planner/ Buyer enters orders into production schedule, creates job travelers for release to production, purchases materials and sub-contracted services, manages incoming materials ensuring quality and on time delivery, works with admin team to manage inventory materials, and works with sales to resolve in-process questions with input from customers and suppliers.

Order Entry, Detailing & Oversight:

Translating quotes into new orders to detail specific requirements based on quotes or standard pricing. Identifying parts for work and creating project travelers for all parts / orders. With sales clarifying with customers where orders are not clear. Ensuring pricing is correct and up-to-date and accounts for all work and materials elevating issues to Customer Service/ Engineering Manager for resolution. Coordinating RMA & rework requests to ensure projects are entered and scheduled to address returned items needing correction/ repairs. Ensuring work schedule database is up to date and accurate.

Purchasing:

Ensures that all necessary materials are ordered in a timely manner to ensure production moves smoothly utilizing QB software. Recognizes and elevates supplier delays and issues. Maintains regular contact with key vendors to communicate production timelines and allow production to meet delivery expectations. Working to prioritize orders with vendors based on customer needs. Communicating issues to vendors and coordinating internal responses.

Managing Incoming Materials:

Works with shop personnel to ensure incoming goods are identified, inspected and stored in a defined location. Use incoming packing lists/ paperwork to receive goods into QB & to update production schedule to reflect materials are in for production.

Supplier Support:

Ensures that supplier questions are answered in a timely and accurate manner. Works with sales to contact customers directly for clarification as needed. Shop /

Production Support:

Identifyingdrawings , templates, layouts necessary to setup projects working with Customer Service/ Engineering Manager and Drafting to edit and improve drawings and shop tools. Coordinating expedited delivery and/or change requests with Production and Shipping.

Quality Records:

Ensuring required quality records are recorded and filed in all projects prior to shipment. Communicating these reports to customers.

Pick-up, Deliveries & Inventory:

Directing the work of the driver/ inventory person to ensure that materials are picked up and dropped offer in a timely and orderly fashion. Directing them to pull inventory materials for projects in a timely and orderly fashion. Helping the driver keep track of necessary truck maintenance, planning and scheduling said maintenance.

Process Improvement :

Developing tools and methods to improve efficiency in your role but also in shop and work processes. Supporting operations with workflow improvements.

Identifying skills that may benefit you or the organization and seeking out external training or education to improve these skill sets. Qualifications:
  • Associate’s degree in business or drafting/ AutoCAD preferred
  • Experience in job shop manufacturing 1-2 years preferred
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency using Microsoft Office Tools.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or ERP for purchasing.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing prints and drawings.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task.

$48,000.00 – $57,000.00 per year
