MAU is hiring a Buyer for our client in Anderson, SC. As a Buyer, you will source material and manage suppliers to fulfill production requirements in accordance with company policies and procedures, under the direction of the Purchasing Manager. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a job related major and 4 - 6+ years of related experience; OR
Associate degree or 2+ years of college wit job related coursework and 7 - 9+ years of progressively responsible related experience; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience
General Requirements
Read and interpret purchasing related documents such as purchase requisitions, reports, blueprints, catalogs, product related literature, and technical books and/or manuals
Prepare reports, purchase orders, and correspondence related to purchasing
Communicate effectively with suppliers and employees at all levels of the organization, including senior management
Negotiate contracts favorable to the organization
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, proportions, percentages, and volume
Apply concept of basic algebra
Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Operate carious equipment to include computer, telephone, fax machine, calculator, and copy machine, and computer software including MRP
Preferred Requirements
CMS/Epicor IVP Business System experience
Buying experience in steel fabrication industry
Essential Functions
Source and qualify suppliers for materials and parts, negotiating/writing contracts for the most cost-effective pricing, while ensuring the ability to deliver to meet production requirements and the meeting of quality standards
Contribute to the development of an efficient supply chain process utilizing proven web/based technology
Meet with vendors/suppliers to discuss current products, potential new products, and on-time delivery and quality, including on-site visits
Visit supplier locations to become familiar with their manufacturing layout, processes, procedures, and complete quality audit report
Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry
Quote projects according to departmental procedures
Provide price and availability to Sales, Engineering, and Product Development Groups
Participate on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes, methods, productivity, and quality, while reducing costs
Set up part numbers within item base and procurement databases for purchased items as needed, to include pricing information, lead time, suppliers, etc.
Assist in reconciling invoice and receiving transaction discrepancies
Process returns for defective materials and part
Expedite replacement materials and parts
Assist in MRO activities as assigned by management
Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.
Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
Perform other tasks as assigned
