Construction Procurement Officer
We are looking for a skilled and meticulous Construction Procurement Officer to join our team in North Charleston, South Carolina. In this role, you will manage procurement processes for construction projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and optimizing cost and performance. This position is crucial to supporting our organization’s capital building programs and requires collaboration across multiple departments to meet project goals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the procurement of construction equipment, services, and supplies to support capital building initiatives.
- Develop or assist in the creation of detailed specifications for construction-related procurements, ensuring optimal cost, performance, and compliance.
- Coordinate with Facilities Improvement, Facility Services, construction management firms, and Finance departments to align project and budget requirements.
- Ensure all solicitation processes, including advertising and amendments, adhere to legal and regulatory standards.
- Conduct and monitor bid openings, evaluate submissions, and recommend awards to the appropriate authorities.
- Interpret and enforce procurement codes and regulations, ensuring compliance across all purchasing activities.
- Supervise and provide guidance to the Construction Procurement Supervisor and Construction Procurement Technician.
- Maintain certifications and stay updated on industry standards and best practices.
- Assist in budget planning and oversee confidential procurement materials to prevent improper handling or legal issues.
- Strong knowledge of procurement codes, regulations, and construction processes.
- Demonstrated experience in managing budgets and procurement processes.
- Familiarity with South Carolina Facilities Planning and Construction guidelines.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet project milestones.
- Ability to lead and supervise teams effectively.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with various departments and stakeholders.
- Dedication to continuous improvement and maintaining industry certifications.
