  • 90,000 that is based on combined experience & education.

Hybrid position with a minimum of 60% on-site in Fountain Inn, SC., up to 5% travel and up to 35% remote. Our Buyer | Planners are responsible for planning the high-level demand and purchase of finished goods and raw materials for manufacturing of Knives for primary wood processing applications. This role is focused on ensuring timely delivery of finished goods while maintaining optimal inventory levels. This requires a strong understanding of production planning, vendor, materials and inventory management. Tasks include but are not limited to: Procuring direct materials necessary for both manufacturing and purchase for resale, Rough cut capacity planning, Monitoring/Reporting the delivery performance of internal manufacturing and external suppliers, Closing the loop on the interplay between capacity, raw material requirements and finished knife purchase in a strong make-versus-buy environment, Investigating opportunities to reduce the total cost of ownership for the category, Support and/or lead commercial and contractual negotiations with suppliers, Acting as the interface between internal stakeholders and suppliers, and Aligning with global planning structure across all manufacturing product lines. The Buyer/Planner’s ability to gain credibility with internal stakeholders and persuade colleagues to change and/or adhere to a certain strategic direction is essential. So, too, is an in-depth understanding of the supply market for each category and the ability to determine opportunities for cost reduction and supply security. Essential functions Planning Weekly cycle review of manufacturing site(s) for inventory and capacity planning, Weekly measurement of Delivery Performance and actual lead time, and Communication of orders at risk to the sales team. Purchasing Procurement of raw material inputs for steel knives from international sources. Purchased Knives to supplement capacity and capability of internal manufacturing. Facilitating the development of new suppliers and maintaining relationships with current suppliers. Life cycle management of purchase orders based on business requirements, including proposed blanket orders and long-term substitutions or supply shifts. Verify order acknowledgements and pricing. Understand business requirements for delivery timing. Facilitate the interface between internal stakeholders and suppliers, including maintaining PO dates for current expectations and intentional communication for any critical supply constraints. Item Masters and Trade Agreements (vendor price lists) Manage pricing information for internal stakeholders including communication of changes and system maintenance for accuracy. Rationalize active Item Masters to eliminate duplication and increase positive matches during an item search. Inventory management Responsible for maintaining inventory levels internally according to defined expectations always weighing the service to customers with the cost of the asset. Business requirements are informed by customer demand patterns; vendor lead times and the risk appetite of business resulting in inventory targets. Signal to suppliers expected future demand to promote the opportunity for supply security and efficient use of resources for both the company and the supplier. Required Education and Experience High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, supply chain management, management, finance, marketing, or manufacturing is preferred.
