Position Summary:
The MRO Buyer is responsible for managing the full procurement lifecycle for Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials and Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) related to production equipment and facility enhancements. This role supports the supply chain function by streamlining purchase requisition (PR) to purchase order (PO) processes, maintaining spare parts inventory, and ensuring the cost-effective acquisition of operational and capital goods.
Key Responsibilities:
MRO Procurement:
Source, evaluate, and manage vendors for spare parts, tools, safety supplies, and related materials. Analyze historical usage data to forecast demand and prevent production delays. Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure cost-effective purchasing. Maintain compliance with safety and quality standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
CAPEX Procurement:
Lead procurement for capital equipment and facility upgrades. Collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance on defining project scope and budgeting. Coordinate vendor selection, RFP/RFQ processes, and contract negotiation. Track vendor performance, delivery schedules, and warranty terms for large-scale purchases.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and finance departments to support both urgent operational needs and long-term strategic goals. Manage logistics, customs clearance, and post-installation vendor coordination.
Process Optimization:
Standardize and streamline the PR to PO process. Consolidate suppliers where feasible to maximize volume discounts and operational efficiency. Track and report procurement KPIs such as cost savings, lead times, and compliance metrics.
Key Objectives:
Maintain optimal spare parts inventory to minimize downtime. Improve PR to PO cycle time and process consistency. Support CAPEX projects through structured sourcing and contract management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field. 5+ years of combined experience in MRO and CAPEX procurement, preferably within automotive, electronics, or manufacturing industries. Proven experience managing CAPEX projects over $500K. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools (e.g., Ariba, Coupa). Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor management skills. Familiarity with relevant regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., OSHA, ITAR).
