POSITION SUMMARY
The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for the planning, procurement, delivery and stocking levels of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Purchases components & materials based on MRP, reorder points, forecasts, and requisitions. Proactively identifies current and potential product shortages, develops and implements recovery strategies, and communicates status and progress to all relevant stakeholders. Maintains inventory levels to ensure deliveries occur within established timelines according to product lead times Audits and ensures accuracy of the inventory system and sets stocking levels. Works with production and planning employees and systems to schedule delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment to meet production needs. Oversees shipping and receiving coordination related to purchased parts, components, and raw materials. Identifies opportunities to reduce transportation costs, fees, and price structures, while identifying new potential vendors. Monitors customs issues with imported materials and is responsible for communications with the vendor about the movement of goods from another country, to ensure that safe transit and delivery is made on time. Communicates with suppliers and internal customers about order changes/cancellations and forecasts. Performs write-offs on damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect the accurate value of inventory. Assists with conducting and valuing physical inventory and cycle counts. Performs other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work conditions are normal for an office environment, with some time spent on a manufacturing floor. Work involves standing and walking, as well as prolonged periods sitting at a desk or working on a computer. Work involves lifting materials and products up to 25 pounds. Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable or hazardous. Noise level is normal for a manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or related discipline required At least 2 years of purchasing/materials management experience required . Strong negotiation, research, and analytical skills. Proven track record of successful cost savings and process improvement. Highly developed organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities at once and meet deadlines Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively and tactfully at all levels of business Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant operations management software with Microsoft Business Central experience preferred
