Job Description

Purchasing Agent All About Labor, LLC Dayton, TN 37321 POSITION PURPOSE An hourly office position with the primary responsibilities of ensuring timely ordering and receiving of vendor parts and supplies to support the manufacturing process. The Purchasing Associate is responsible for managing the vendor relationship to ensure agreed to dates, quantities and quality are received , and to seek remediation and corrective action when vendor commitments are not met. This position coordinates with other members of the Supply Chain team to meet the production requirements of our fabrication and assembly partners. As a procurement professional, the Purchasing Associate is an influencer, who provides quantitative data to his/her internal customers enabling them to make real-time decisions toward the goal of 100% On-Time Delivery. The Purchasing Associate contributes to the success of the Procurement Team while demonstrating values of Courage, Innovation, Responsibility, and Trust.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Owns personal and team safety. Observes all safety rules and always uses the proper safety equipment & PPE.

  • Negotiate with vendors
  • Document process improvements resulting from root cause analysis
  • Training co-workers and partners on lessons learned and process improvements
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and projects.
  • Demonstrate customer focus through proactive communication and engagement with the operations leaders.

Conduct daily review of production schedule to identify and prioritize purchasing activities Proactively communicate with Team Leads to develop plans to meet production deadlines Coordinate closely with the Customer Service Liaison on customer shipping/delivery dates. Make financially sound decisions when expediting parts or selecting alternative vendors. Maintains records and review PO, inventory, and receiving documents. Maintain and distribute Daily Shortage, and other reports as assigned Responsible for adhering to purchasing and SOX regulations. Process Non-Conformance and RMA claims for products that do not meet standards. Manage the match-exception process Perform other duties as assigned by plant leadership.

NATURE & SCOPE

The position is an important member of the plant Supply Chain Department & Central Purchasing Teams. The Dayton Purchasing Associate reports to the SCM, Senior Plant Buyers & Corporate Purchasing Manager. As a procurement professional, expertise may be requested to participate on local or regional project teams. The expectation is to operate as an influencer and technical/subject matter expert.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Effective written communication including documentation of processes, and the communication of those processes with fellow employees. Ability to communicate to supervisors, co-workers, and customers with written memos or emails that are professional, concise and clearly understood. Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to communicate professionally with customers, co-workers, and management. The ability to share information verbally that is clearly understood and technically accurate. Competent in working with ERP systems to source information and execute orders. Knowledgeable of the procurement process as it relates to ordering, P.O.s, credits, inventory, optimal stock levels, RMA’s, and vendor negotiations. Strong competency with Root Cause Analysis techniques such as 5Y and Fish Bone analysis Competent in math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions. Customer focus demonstrated by speed and completeness in responses to internal and external customer requests. Ability to prioritize, self-manage, and work on multiple projects A minimum of one year experience in a purchasing role is preferred High level of product knowledge of BAC’s numerous models and parts. Computer competency with MS Excel including updating data and generating metrics in pre-formatted spreadsheets. Demonstrated flexibility to work on multiple projects and adapt to change. Ability to work on cross-functional teams in support of plant objectives.

The position is predominately an indoor office position with frequent interaction on the plant floor. Sitting at a workstation is expected 80% of the time with standing and walking expected up to 20% of the time.

Additional activities include:

reaching, bending, and stooping. Fine hand manipulation related to keyboarding and writing. Working hours usually day shift but can include any of three shifts as needs arise. Some evening weekend overtime is to be expected dependent on plant volume. Working temperatures include both indoor climate control and wide fluctuations within the plant as well as ambient outside temperatures.
