Job Description
Purchasing Agent 4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars Memphis, TN The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the steel buying and processing requirements of the Memphis plant along with effective management of the overall steel inventory.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Purchasing steel requirements and managing demand; Managing all outside processing requirements; Develop a mutual working relationship with the steel mills and with any other vendors which supply and process steel for the plant needs; Develop an effective information sharing system with all plants; Work closely with the Business Manager on steel market activities and capitalize any opportunities in steel buying with multiple plant locations; Assist the Sales Department in any steel purchasing related matters such as new orders, quotes or any special buys in accordance to project specification; Ensure the steel deliveries are in conjunction with the delivery requirement of the project; Work closely with the scheduling department on any movement of projects for the plant.
Required :
Proven steel purchasing experience or equivalent supply chain experience; Experience with high levels of responsibility and decision making in pressure situations; Possess a self-starter quality for seeking input and details from resources; Able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events; Must be proficient in Excel;
