Buyer
We are seeking a Buyer to join our team based in SPARTA, Michigan. As a vital member of our manufacturing industry team, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiation, and purchasing of technical goods and services integral to our operations. This role has a strong emphasis on collaboration with various teams including suppliers, engineering, and production, to ensure efficient procurement of materials while upholding our quality and compliance standards.
Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, and manage contracts to achieve cost savings and service improvements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for technical components, equipment, and services, ensuring procurement aligns with operational and budgetary requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, production, and finance teams, to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with business goals.
  • Issue purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely receipt of goods while resolving issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, and order discrepancies.
  • Monitor and manage purchasing costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support financial planning through accurate forecasting.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards while maintaining accurate procurement records.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new technologies, and alternative suppliers to improve procurement efficiency.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to understand material specifications, ensuring purchased items meet technical and quality standards.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a buyer role within the manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency in using ERP software such as Epicor, SAP and Oracle
  • Experience in ERP solutions and Enterprise Resource Planning
  • Strong understanding of accounting functions related to buying processes
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively liaise with suppliers and internal teams
  • Demonstrated knowledge of buying processes within a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data for purchasing decisions
  • Proven track record in negotiation and vendor management
  • Familiarity with market research, data analysis, and forecasting techniques
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
