The Freight Audit and Pay Analyst will report to the NAR Logistics Senior Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of freight invoice processing, auditing, and reporting. This role plays a critical part in managing parcel and freight spend, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining streamlined processes to support financial accuracy and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Review and validate parcel carrier invoices for accuracy; coordinate timely and accurate payments.
Analyze parcel carrier spend and prepare detailed reports for internal stakeholders.
Reconcile parcel carrier statements of account, identifying discrepancies and aged items for resolution.
Oversee weekly freight list bill review, ensuring proper approval and on-time payment.
Allocate weekly freight charges to appropriate plant or business unit cost centers.
Develop, document, and maintain freight audit procedures for approved carriers to ensure compliance and consistency.
Conduct detailed audits of freight invoices and related payment transactions to ensure alignment with contracts and rates.
Investigate and approve invoice exceptions and accessorial charges submitted by carriers.
Proactively identify and resolve billing discrepancies, working cross-functionally with carriers and internal departments to ensure timely resolution.
Compile and distribute comprehensive customs duty and freight spend reports to inform strategic decisions.
Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials related to freight auditing functions.
Provide cross-training and knowledge sharing to support business continuity and team collaboration. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements Minimum of 10 years’ experience with freight analysis and audits.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Proficient in Excel and data analysis; experience with freight audit software or ERP systems preferred.
Position is a hybrid role and must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational and time-management abilities with the capability to handle multiple priorities.
Thorough understanding of various carrier pricing, tariffs, and contract rate applications.
Self-driven and must possess the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
Fundamental knowledge of automated carrier rating systems.
Ability to be a team player with excellent communication skills.
