Logistics Operations (Freight forwarding) Hobort Shipping and Logistics 815 Progress Court, Lawrenceville, GA 30043 Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Freight Forwarder to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordinating the shipment of goods from one location to another, ensuring compliance with all regulations and managing relationships with customers and vendors. This role requires strong negotiation skills and a comprehensive understanding of transportation management systems. Duties Manage full-cycle international and domestic freight forwarding operations (air, ocean, and inland) Oversee import and export documentation and customs clearance procedures Coordinate with warehouses to ensure accurate cargo receiving, storage, and dispatch Arrange and track transportation schedules with trucking and shipping carriers Prepare and verify commercial documents (BL, AWB, invoice, packing list, etc.) for compliance and accuracy Handle billing processes including issuing invoices (A/R) and verifying vendor invoices (A/P) Monitor and analyze job profit and loss (P&L) to ensure margin targets are met Conduct settlement processes and ensure timely closing of shipments Maintain accurate records in internal TMS/ERP systems Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and internal management to resolve issues promptly Support problem resolution related to delivery, damage, or loss Coordinate and manage the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery while adhering to all relevant regulations, including FDA regulations. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through effective account management and customer relationship management strategies. Negotiate freight rates and terms with carriers to optimize shipping costs and service levels. Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to plan, execute, and monitor shipments efficiently. Collaborate with various stakeholders, including suppliers, carriers, and customs officials, to facilitate smooth logistics operations. Ensure compliance with all necessary documentation requirements for shipping, including EDI transactions and AS400 systems. Monitor shipment progress and address any issues that may arise during transit. Skills Strong customer relationship management skills to foster positive interactions with clients. Proven account management experience in a logistics or transportation environment. Proficiency in AS400 and EDI systems for effective data handling and communication. Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with carriers. Knowledge of transportation planning principles to optimize routing and scheduling. Familiarity with FDA regulations related to freight forwarding is preferred. Experience in transportation management and the use of Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Understanding of Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) operations is a plus.
