JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities of Freight Manager
1. Develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce costs of freight operations.
2. Monitor and manage inventory levels of freight to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
3. Oversee the maintenance and repair of all freight equipment to ensure its safe and efficient operation.
4. Monitor freight carriers and negotiate contracts to ensure best pricing and service.
5. Establish and maintain a compliant working environment for employees, customers and vendors.
6. Develop and implement policies and procedures for all freight operations.
7. Coordinate with other departments to ensure on time delivery of goods.
8. Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
9. Manage customer shipping inquiries and complaints.
10. Monitor freight costs and develop strategies to reduce costs.
Requirements and skills
Solid knowledge of logistics procedures
Experience in using EDI and preparing shipping documents (e.g. ASN)
Computer savvy with excellent knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel)
Good understanding of budgeting and reporting
Experience in directing and evaluating subordinates
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Attention to detail
Problem-solving abilities
High school diploma; BSc/BA in supply chain, logistics or relative field is a definite plus Now
