President/CEO Organization:
Siloam Springs Chamber of Commerce The President/CEO is the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber. They are authorized to sign official correspondence and serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. The President/CEO is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive range of activities, coordinating the program of work through their actions and those of subordinates, managing long-term planning of organizational structures and procedures, motivating staff and volunteers, monitoring income and expenses, maintaining membership and Chamber facilities, employing, training and supervising staff, and interpreting policy. The President/CEO is expected to promote Siloam Springs, including but not limited to attracting new businesses, industries, and tourism. The President/CEO shall be selected by and serve at the discretion of the Executive Committee, in consultation with the Chamber Board of Directors. The President/CEO manages the day-to-day operations of the Chamber, including overseeing staff and budget, as directed by the Board of Directors. Any staffing changes recommended by the President/CEO must be presented to and approved by the Executive Committee.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education :
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or public administration, or equivalent experience is preferred. Professional certifications and continuing education are also desirable.
Experience :
Requires a minimum of five years of leadership experience in a business or nonprofit organization.
Management :
Needs familiarity with running a nonprofit and understanding the dynamics of a chamber of commerce or similar membership organization that advocates for members and engages in economic development.
Leadership :
Must have demonstrated leadership skills for setting goals, objectives, planning and tracking multiple projects, and holding people accountable. Should show ability to embrace diversity and work successfully with the community.
Executive :
Must demonstrate an executive mindset, capable of seeing the big picture, absorbing information quickly, thinking broadly, analyzing thoroughly, and acting decisively. Should be willing to pursue new ideas and challenge traditional thinking.
Planning & Organizing :
Requires demonstrated ability to plan work activities, handle multiple project priorities, and work under time pressure.
Communication :
Needs superior communication and presentation skills along with strong listening, written, and verbal abilities. Experience establishing positive and proactive communication with Board, staff, membership, public sector, civic groups, and general members of the community. Proven ability with traditional and online media.
Collaboration :
Proven record of engaging, partnering, and building alliances with a wide range of constituencies, including business leaders, elected officials, and leaders from other organizations.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work environment is dictated by the activities of the Chamber. The CEO/President should generally be available during regular operating hours of the Chamber. The President/CEO can set their own schedule, provided all duties, responsibilities, and management functions are completed timely. The position may require work outside traditional hours and may extend operating days. Some business travel is required. This person is responsible for reporting to the Chairperson of the Board any issues, concerns, or questions affecting the organization. They will perform additional duties as directed by the Chairperson of the Board.
