County Manager Thomson-McDuffie County, Georgia Thomson, GA 30824 Job Overview This position is responsible for managing the county’s day-to-day activities to ensure that county residents and taxpayers received the most efficient and effective services from county departments and employees. Duties Supervises the administration of the affairs and to see that the ordinances, resolutions, and regulations of the Board of Commissioners and the laws of the state are faithfully executed and enforced. Keeps the Board of Commissioners fully advised at all times as to the financial condition and needs of the County. Makes or causes to be made a full written report to the Board of Commissioners each month showing the operations and expenditures of each department of the county government for the preceding month. Supervises performance of all contracts made by any person, company, or corporation for work done for the Board of Commissioners. Attends all meetings of the Board of Commissioners with a right to take part in the discussions but has no vote. Recommends to the Board of Commissioners for adoption such measures as the County Manager may deem necessary or expedient. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration. Submits, no later than the 20th day of the seventh month of each fiscal year, to the Board of Commissioners a budget plan and calendar for developing a proposed operating budget for the ensuing fiscal year; formulates and submits to the Board of Commissioners, no later than the 20th day of the tenth month of each fiscal year, a proposed operating budget for the next fiscal year showing budget revenues and expenditures during the preceding fiscal year; appropriations and proposed capital expenditures; recommended tax levy; and such other information and data as may be considered necessary by Board of Commissioners. Requires reports for heads of departments and other employees entrusted with administrative duties. The County Manager shall have at all times, the authority to examine all books and records of every officer and department of the county under the jurisdiction of the Board of Commissioners. Serves as liaison between the commissioners and department heads; oversees the work of department heads and office personnel. Serves as risk manager by overseeing all property and casualty insurance claims. M inimum Qualifications; Bachelor’s Degree in

Business Administration or Public Training:

Administration and at least Four years’ experience in Public Administration; or Master’s Degree in Public Administration; or Public Administration and at least Two years’ experience in Public Administration; or At least Ten years’ experience in Public Administration as a
