Job Summary Oversee and provide operational support for multiple aggregate operations throughout the US. Provide leadership in terms of safety , operations management, mine planning & resources, environmental compliance, process improvements and maintenance, quality control, and commercial development. The VP of Operations is a key leadership role involved in overseeing and optimizing operational excellence activities across multiple aggregate sites.
Job Responsibilities Lead and execute the strategic vision for the company’s aggregate operations.
Collaborate with the SVP of Aggregates in setting and driving the businesses operational vision & strategy.
Drive and support initiatives that support safe, efficient, and profitable operations across the US Aggregate division. Manage, mentor, & develop a high performing team of subject matter experts ensuring the team has the tools to drive business results.
Optimize the allocation of professional, technical, and operational resources to achieve targets in budget, production, safety, and development.
Lead the selection of Operating Efficiency projects and facilitate their investment thesis with the organization. Audit mining and crushing operations to ensure a safe and efficient working environment
Assure compliance with company policies, risk management other regulatory requirements
Coordinate safety efforts with Corporate Safety for MSHA and regional safety compliance
Maintain an up-to-date status of all crushing and mining operations
Partner with projects team to provide expertise while exploring on new mine development “green field” and the evaluation of any mining acquisitions
Ensure good communications and coordination between customer service and sales
Maintain productive and professional relationships with key vendors, suppliers, agencies customers
Monitor department performance and take corrective action when required
Create management training and development programs for employees as required
Adhere to all CEMEX and MSHA rules and regulations at all facilities and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
Meet or exceed company safety standards
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management Qualifications 10 or more years’ experience in quarry operations management; previous multi-plant management experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or business discipline preferred; advanced degree or MBA a plus
Knowledge of P&L management and continuous improvement Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requires the ability to analyze and interpret strategic plans that support organizational goals
Relevant experience working with mining & support functional teams
Ability to work in a stressful, environments that requires complex, technical information decision making
Must be able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
Must have a strong analytical orientation with the ability to apply analytical concepts to complex business problems
Knowledge of and experience implementing lean manufacturing principles
Strong experience interfacing with MSHA and other federal and state agencies
Proficient in Microsoft Office products Working Conditions Capability to work extended hours as necessary
Ability to work with standard office/computer Equipment
Capable of working in an open office environment
Ability to participate in required overnight travel as necessary Physical Requirements Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
Job involves sitting most of the time, but also involves walking or standing for brief periods of time
