The CD is responsible for the management of administrative operations and oversight of the staff, facility and information technology needs at the Center. The Center Director functions as the supervisor to Teachers and Assistant Teachers. Additionally, the CD oversees the planning, development and implementation of Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) for their respective Center. Center Directors reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. In the absence of the Chief Operating Officer, the Center Directors report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Implementation of all accreditation and licensing standards at the Center, e.g. National Association for the Education of Young Children, the Department of Children and Families, etc.
  • Conduct dealings with family members, community representatives, agency staff, volunteers, Board members, and funders with a sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural and professional differences and needs.
  • Manage and resolve crises related to operations and program staff.
  • Participate in grant application and budget development, when applicable.
  • Participate in community relations and marketing activities that generate families for enrollment and content for publicity purposes.
  • Participate in appropriate community and inter-agency planning to bring the most effective service possible to current clients and community.
  • Review monthly accountability statistics of all Center programs, including monitoring and assessment data for reporting to the agency administration.
  • Oversee the implementation of outcome measurements, policies, and procedures that conform to acceptable standards for services provided by the Center.
  • Advise the Chief Operating Officer about all concerns, incidents, etc.
PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
  • Conduct monthly maintenance and facility checks for quality improvement processes.
  • Evaluate the services provided by the Center in relation to specified accreditation and licensing goals and standards and recommend modifications where appropriate.
  • Maintain responsibility for, preparation of and participation in quarterly quality reviews with staff.
  • Serve as chairperson of Center Team meetings.
  • Ensure Center-wide compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding childcare, Head Start, Early Head Start, VPK, and other school readiness programs the agency is involved in.
PERSONNEL
  • Oversight of employee training needs, ensuring that all employees obtain the required training necessary to meet accreditation and licensing requirements.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff to the Center.
  • Conduct supervision for Teachers/Assistant Teachers on a regular basis.
  • Monitor and maintain current resumes on direct report staff to ensure compliance with professional accreditation.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations of Teachers/Assistant Teachers.
QUALIFICATIONS 1. A

bachelor’s degree in education or related field from an accredited college or university. 2. A minimum of five (5) years post-college work experience in the areas of education and/or head start. 3. Appropriate certifications and/or licensures 4. Previous experience in a supervisory role. 5. Ability to work cooperatively with multiple levels of staff, children, and families. 6. Proven ability to critically analyze complex issues and recommend solutions. 7. Ability to organize time, set priorities and to help staff do the same. 8. Demonstrated administrative competence in management. 9. Knowledge in compliance and understanding of federal, state, or local regulations related to childcare. 10. Ability to assist in the formulation of agency functions, programs, and services as well as oversee their implementation with children.
