We are seeking a dynamic leader to drive business goals, establish performance metrics, and manage cost processes within a designated market area. This role is crucial for achieving operational excellence and fostering growth within the market. Essential Functions Lead the strategic planning and execution of fleet operations across all business units. Oversee vehicle acquisition, maintenance, lifecycle management, and disposal. Implement and manage fleet technologies including telematics, GPS tracking, and route optimization. Ensure compliance with DOT, EPA, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies. Drive fleet sustainability initiatives, including alternative fuel adoption and emissions reduction. Develop and execute procurement strategies for fleet, equipment, parts, fuel, and other operational needs. Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and performance metrics. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through strategic sourcing and vendor consolidation. Ensure procurement practices align with company policies, ethics, and sustainability goals. Develop and manage budgets for fleet and procurement departments. Monitor KPIs such as total cost of ownership (TCO), supplier performance, and fleet utilization. Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs. Lead and mentor a team of fleet managers, procurement specialists, and support staff. Collaborate with operations, finance, legal, and sustainability teams to align strategies. Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership on fleet and procurement matters. Expertise in negotiating, managing, and evaluating supplier relationships and contracts. Deep understanding of DOT, EPA, OSHA, and other relevant regulations affecting fleet and procurement. Skilled in budgeting, cost analysis, and financial planning related to fleet and procurement operations. Familiarity with fleet management systems, ERP platforms, telematics, and procurement software. Ability to lead organizational change initiatives, especially around sustainability, digital transformation, and process improvement. Commitment to environmental stewardship through fleet electrification, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing. Supervisory Responsibilities Lead Fleet operations leaders Responsible for hiring and training senior fleet maintenance staff Coach performance and provide professional development for team members Travel Requirements Weekly, biweekly, and monthly meetings Customer worksite visits and municipality events Daily travel within designated market areas Preferred Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Engineering, or related field (MBA preferred). 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in fleet management, preferably in the waste, logistics, or transportation industry. Strong knowledge of fleet technologies, maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance. Formal technical training or certification as a diesel technician, heavy equipment mechanic, or similar trade is strongly preferred Proven track record of managing large, geographically dispersed fleets. Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
