We are seeking a strategic and dynamic VP of Product to lead both our product strategy and operational execution of those products. The ideal candidate will blend commercial P&C insurance and underwriting expertise with an innovative tech-first mindset. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and product-minded engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Spearhead the creation of innovative and tailored insurance and risk products, either by underwriting on our own balance sheet or by leveraging a carrier’s paper. Negotiate and manage relationships with carriers, brokers, and reinsurers to secure program capacity, align on underwriting guidelines, and expand distribution channels. Lead and manage our internal engineering team to continue to add value to our customers, carriers, and internal users via our Beacon platform, and increase the scalability of our back office. Lead our Structural Warranty department, ensuring profitability of underwriting, pricing, compliance, and operational excellence in policy issuance. Align with our VP of Agency Operations, VP of Sales, and Director of Marketing to ensure maximum adoption of current and future products by both new and existing customers. Establish and monitor KPIs to drive product success and operational excellence. Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings and pricing, and broader market conditions to inform company and product strategy. Qualifications Strong operational leadership experience, with a track record of scaling processes, managing cross-functional teams, and optimizing efficiency in a startup or high-growth environment Exceptional analytical and data-driven decision-making skills, with the willingness and ability to personally pull the raw data and transform it into actionable insights Proven success in designing and launching innovative insurance programs Experience leading or working closely with engineers to bring product vision to life Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills to manage carriers, brokers, and internal stakeholders Comfort in a fast-paced startup setting, the ability to thrive in ambiguity, a mentality that no job is too small, and the desire to constantly learn and improve new pockets of the business Experience in an MGA/MGU, Agency, or Insurtech startup preferred Experience in construction or homebuilding is strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, or a related field, MBA preferred 7+ years of experience in construction, insurance, insurtech, or fintech with at least 3 years in leadership roles and demonstrated clear and consistent career advancement Join Maverick and be part of a dynamic team dedicated to transforming the homebuilding industry with cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions.
