Job Summary The Assistant Vice President for Auxiliary Services provides leadership and direction for a $12-14M portfolio of self-supportive, tuition-funded, and student fee-based business units. Operations include a self-operated Food and Beverage Services Operation that includes Residential Dining, Retail (e.g. Chick-fil-a, Starbucks, and others), Concessions, contracted MicroMarts and beverage vending services. The Retail Operations include the self-supported businesses of the UWG Outfitters campus store and Print Services units, along with the institutionally funded Mail Services. Campus Services includes the student fee funded department of Parking & Transportation and management of the UWG ID Card office. The Event Services unit manages the institutionally funded Event Services Department and UWG Commencement Ceremonies. This position provides strategic leadership and direction for the entire portfolio to include oversight of all business plan and capital investment proposals, as well as the ongoing in-year performance management to achieve desired financial and operational results. This role reports to the Vice President for Business and Finance, serves on the President¿s Cabinet, and supports the mission and vision of the institution through aligning service offerings and financial models that enhance the marketability of UWG while protecting the fiscal sustainability of the units within this scope. Responsibilities 1 – Strategic Planning This position sets the strategic mission and vision for Auxiliary Services overall and works directly with VP for Business & Finance to align goals with the direction of the institution. Responsible for working with managers and directors within Auxiliary Services to cascade strategic initiatives and build out measurable goals within each unit. Responsible for reporting up through leadership on projects and challenges, and presenting efforts to executive leadership teams on campus. This position works closely with executive leadership in other divisions to build out service models and frameworks that enhance these goals. 2 – Financial and Operational Oversight This position is responsible for the financial health of all units within this scope. Managers and directors work with the Director of Auxiliary Finance to project down range results, and build out financial reporting for monthly and quarterly operational reports, 5 year Business Plans, Capital funding proposals and fee proposal requests for the USG reporting. This position is responsible for review and justification reporting on these documents, and for presenting current and future financial results to executive leadership, in addition to proactively explaining variances and working with the managers and directors to bring operational solutions to the VPBF for financial or service challenges that arise. This position is responsible to ensure that there are effective feedback mechanisms, key performance indicators, and performance management to ensure that the various operations within Auxiliary Services are operating effectively and in alignment with the needs of the University. 3 – Leadership and Development of Staff This position is responsible for the hiring, development and performance management of 5-8 direct reports, and 250+ full-time and part-time employees. This includes the strategic organizational development and design for all units within this scope. This position collaborates with Human Resources to consistently evaluate structure and compensation levels, as well as ensure responsibilities for all members align with appropriate classifications. Additionally, this position provides direction and support for managers and directors to appropriately align their units. This position is responsible for the career and professional development mapping for all direct reports, and accountable for ensuring all supervisors within these units are providing this support for their teams. Responsible for performance management oversight in partnership with Human Resources to ensure all employees are receiving appropriate training and coaching to improve throughout the performance management process and that all supervisors are adhering to policies and HR advised practices. 4 – Cross Divisional Service Alignment This position partners closely with Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Affairs for service delivery schedules, Budget and Financial Planning for alignment on financial reporting and presentations, Academic Affairs for student affordability reporting and service offerings in line with class schedules, and Information Technology Services for all hardware and software support, in addition to large scale IT deployment projects, Campus Planning and Facilities for use of space and service interruption needs for emergency and preventative maintenance, in addition to Facility Improvement projects needed for the units within this scope. This role serves on the Facilities and Information Technology Committee for Faculty Senate, and on the President¿s Cabinet of executive leadership. This role is responsible for collaborating effectively across all divisions and maintaining clear communications with the VPBF for needs and concerns outside of the division that will impact unit operations. Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree. Required Experience 8 years of progressively responsible experience in a related field serving in a leadership role. 5 years of experience managing large teams and diverse operations. Experience working with revenue-generating and state-funded budgets. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Education Masters Degree. Preferred Experience Leadership experience in Higher Education. Experience with selfoperated Auxiliary departments in a university setting. Strategic planning and capital investment experience to include building business proposals and gaining cross-divisional advocacy for investments. Proposed Salary $130,000.00-$140,000.00 Annually.
