Job Description
Overview This position has management oversight of the assigned cost centers and is a strategic partner to enterprise leadership within each facility. This includes the management of on-site Clinical Operations including the direction and supervision of functional managers and the Sterile Processing Department. Ensures SPD compliance with the Department of Health, CMS, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards and facility policies and procedures. Responsibilities Ensure processes, inventory, equipment, training, and procedures are established and maintained to support the instrumentation and sterilization needs to exceed service and quality expectations as identified by customer, physician, employee, organizational goals, and initiatives.
Oversees the performance and accuracy of key departmental information systems to collect and report data for Immediate Use Steam Sterilization, instrument distribution, repair, loss, and replacement.
Manages staff relations including performance management, training, certification, staff satisfaction and conflict management. Provides guidelines for departmental leaders.
Monitors quality metrics and productivity on a monthly and quarterly basis, prepares departmental budgets, capital requests, and ensures processes are in place for cost effective management of departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations to ensure fiscal reliability.
Develops performance improvement plans on an annual basis with metrics for the sterile processing department. Ensures improvement plans are consistent with the organization overall performance improvement objectives. Utilizes lean principles and continuous improvement to drive process improvement and operational efficiencyDevelop and maintain strategic partnerships across the enterprise to support operations in meeting the demands of the internal and external customers. Ensures Sterile Processing can support infrastructure transitions and growth with an efficient and effective delivery model.
Establishes and maintaining all policies and procedure and training of staff in accordance with regulatory bodies:
CMS, AORN, AAMI, IAHCSMM, APIC, OSHA, TJC.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelors degree in healthcare related field
Preferred:
Masters degree in healthcare related field
EXPERIENCE
Required:
7 years experience in Sterile processing with 3 years leadership experience in a multi-site system.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING
Required:
Certification in sterile processing/central sterile via CBSPD or IAHCSMM
