Summary We are seeking a dynamic Vice President of LTL Operations to join our team at Wadhams Enterprises. The right candidate will be hands-on, data-driven, and passionate about continuous improvement, with a proven ability to lead teams, optimize terminal and linehaul performance, and strengthen customer relationships.

Within our operating network (NY, NJ, PA, MA, CT, NH) Job summary: As a key member of our leadership team, the Vice President of Operations will oversee the day-to-day and strategic operations of our regional LTL network. This role is vital to ensure safe, efficiencies, and reliable service for our customers while promoting a strong family-oriented culture, driving operational productivity, and improving profit margins.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (Master’s a plus, but not required).
Travel:
- Travel to the corporate office monthly or as needed.
- Travel to all terminals within our network quarterly or as needed.
Skills:
10+ years of progressive LTL transportation leadership experience. Proven success in improving operational productivity, safety performance, and profit margins. Strong commitment to fostering a safety-focused, values-driven work environment. Experienced with route optimization, linehaul planning, and terminal efficiency strategies. Comfortable balancing hands-on involvement with strategic thinking. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Familiarity with modern TMS platforms and transportation industry technology. Ability to combine hands-on operational expertise with a passion for safety, customer service, and continuous improvement — someone who values relationships and results equally.
License:
Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time at a desk and walk on a dock for an eight-hour day.
- Ability and strength to operate a computer keyboard, copy machine, printer, fax machines, and telephone.
- Ability to lift small boxes of office supplies weighing up to twenty pounds.
- Ability to climb one flight of stairs.
- All office personnel must be reliable, must report for duty on time, must be neat and presentable, and must be available for overtime when required.
- All office personnel must keep management informed.
- All office personnel must maintain a good working relationship with customers, vendors, co-workers and management.
- Learn and adhere to all applicable company policies and procedures.

Direct and oversee the company’s LTL operations including terminal management, linehaul, dock productivity, and dispatch. Focus on improving operational efficiency, ensuring freight moves on-time, damage-free, and at the lowest possible cost.
Profitability & Margin Growth:
Analyze operational costs and revenue streams to identify opportunities for margin improvement. Implement disciplined cost controls, enhance equipment utilization, optimize route planning, and reduce waste and inefficiencies without sacrificing customer service or safety.
Productivity Enhancement:
Develop and deploy best practices, performance standards, and process improvements that drive measurable increases in labor and equipment productivity, while maintaining a supportive and collaborative team environment.
Customer-Centered Service:
Build strong relationships with customers based on trust, service reliability, and proactive problem-solving. Ensure the operations team upholds our company’s commitment to delivering quality service every time.
Team Development & Culture Building:
Lead and develop terminal managers, supervisors, and frontline staff while upholding the family-owned company values of respect, accountability, and integrity. Foster an environment where employees feel valued, engaged, and empowered.
Continuous Improvement:
Use operational data and key performance indicators to make informed decisions that drive both short-term improvements and long-term operational resilience. Support the adoption of technologies and systems that enhance visibility and efficiency.

Ensure full compliance with DOT, OSHA, FMCSA, and all other federal, state, and local regulations, while maintaining high ethical standards.
