Job Description

Our client is a global leader in the manufacturing and remanufacturing of fuel systems, is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer who will be responsible for leading the company’s global operations. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operational functions and ensuring alignment with strategic goals. The COO works closely with the CEO to develop and implement operational policies, optimize performance, and drive business growth. This role involves managing cross-functional global teams, improving operational efficiency, fostering a high-performance culture, and ensuring financial and operational success across the organization.

Job Summary:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s global operations, with a primary focus on lean integration to enhance productivity and efficiency. Must possess a deep understanding of lean manufacturing principles, strategic planning, and purchasing processes to drive continuous improvement and ensure the achievement of the company’s operational and financial goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize operational efficiency, streamline processes, and drive sustainable growth across all global manufacturing facilities. Lead and mentor a high-performing team of operational professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Oversee the development and execution of lean manufacturing strategies, including the implementation of lean tools and methodologies to eliminate waste, reduce cycle times, and improve overall productivity. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence initiatives, including quality improvement, supply chain optimization, and inventory management. Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Lead the development and implementation of purchasing strategies to optimize supplier relationships, negotiate favorable terms, and ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and services. Drive a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging employee involvement and engagement in operational excellence initiatives. Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation within the automotive manufacturing sector. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies, maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and environmental compliance. Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop and execute the company’s strategic objectives, contributing to the overall success and growth of the organization.

Requirements and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Demonstrated success in driving lean manufacturing initiatives and operational excellence across complex production environments. Proven track record of leadership in a senior operational role within the automotive manufacturing industry, with at least 15 years of experience. Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, methodologies, and tools, with a demonstrated ability to drive lean transformation initiatives and achieve measurable results. Extensive knowledge of purchasing processes, supply chain management, and procurement strategies within a global manufacturing environment. Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute complex operational strategies and initiatives. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive management style and the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve high levels of performance. Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies. Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives, with a focus on delivering measurable business results. Strong business acumen and financial literacy, with the ability to analyze financial data, develop budgets, and manage operational expenses effectively. Experience working with global multicultural teams across different time zones; experience working with international teams as well.
