Job Summary
This role defines the vision, purpose, strategy, and implementation of the district’s overall resource strategy. It leads the student-based budgeting (SBB) team and manages all aspects of school budget development, using analytics, frameworks, and models to evaluate the impact of the SBB approach. The position is accountable for promoting ROI, strategic flexibility, and equity in resource allocation and spending. This role will also lead the design and implementation of a resource monitoring and analytics platform that integrates all funding sources to support leadership decision-making.
What you will do
Provide executive leadership for the district’s school budgeting strategy, including overall management of budget development, implementation, and ROI assessment, as well as leadership, development, and evaluation of assigned teams.
Collaborate closely with the Chief Financial Officer to design and implement a comprehensive resource monitoring and analytics platform that incorporates all funding sources and supports informed leadership decision-making.
Co-own, with team leaders, key strategic decision points in the SBB process, including determining the funding pool size, designing and applying weights, establishing flexibilities, and developing and delivering school leadership training.
Lead cross-functional collaboration among departments impacted by school resource strategy—particularly finance and HR—with an emphasis on continuous process improvement.
Set high standards for expertise, collaboration, training, and support for all personnel involved in the school budgeting process, including executive directors of schools, executive principals, Title I facilitators, and HR staff.
Manage and execute a portfolio of special projects related to the district’s resource strategy as directed by the Chief Financial Officer; represent the CFO as needed and respond to inquiries on their behalf.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree Required
Master’s Degree Business Administration or Educational Leadership Preferred
Experience Qualifications
3-5 years Leadership experience in K-12 systems Preferred
Experience leading in a finance, operations, and/or strategy function in a large size organization.

Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
