Hiring Department Office of Business Affairs, School of Dentistry Job Description The University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Dentistry, a leader in advancing oral healthcare, is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Business Support Specialist II to manage purchasing and accounts payable for our clinical operations. This position plays a key role in the School of Dentistry Business Office and reports directly to the Senior Finance and Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchasing and financial operations, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic healthcare and academic environment. Key Responsibilities Student Instrument Agreements Coordinate with the Contracts Office for approval of any changes to instrument agreements.
Confirm annual agreement amounts.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure agreements are signed by incoming students.
Manage refund processing for graduating or withdrawing students. Purchasing and Procurement Oversee procurement of clinical supplies, equipment, and services.
Manage service contracts for clinical equipment.
Lead bidding processes for clinical supplies when required.
Process PO and Non-PO vouchers for clinical purchases.
Manage supplier setup requests and hold checks.
Submit blanket PO invoice processing. Accounts Receivable and Receipts Invoice contracts and special requests; track payments.
Prepare Cash Receipt Reports (CRRs) and coordinate with the Cashier’s Office.
Claim Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) payments.
Report on accounts receivable and prepaid balances. Finance and Administrative Support Provide travel reimbursement support to faculty, staff, and students.
Reconcile payroll and ensure compliance with financial policies.
Educate staff on policies and procedures.
Provide backup coverage for team members as needed. Other duties as assigned. Shift Office Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid scheduling. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary. Preferred Qualifications Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
High attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Experience in accounting, accounts payable, or accounts receivable.
Familiarity with dental purchasing or working in a university setting.
Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Experience with PeopleSoft financial systems.
Anticipated Hiring Range $18.87 – $23.37 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity. Application Deadline For best consideration apply by July 6, 2025.
