Responsibilities Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and finalizes a high volume ofconstruction contracts, drawing upon candidate’s extensiveknowledge of all AIA contract forms, typical client positions, andtheir impact on Shawmut and its business goals and practices. Drafts, reviews, negotiates, and finalizes confidentialityagreements, settlement agreements, leases and otheragreements. Assists with legal issues related to subcontracts. Provides advice on various legal and procedural issuesincluding scope, schedule, notices, changes, non-performance,insurance and labor issues. Develops and maintains positive relationships and communicationwith Shawmut staff. Acts as a liaison for and fosters positive relationships withclients and clients’ attorneys. Manages affirmative and defensive lien issues as necessary toprotect the company’s interests. Is familiar with lien statutes andpractices in various jurisdictions. Develops training materials and provides company-wide trainingon contracts, processes, and other legal topics.

Qualifications Experience:

A minimum of 2-5 years of Construction Industry Lawexperience.

Education:

JD, member of any state bar While Shawmut is headquartered in Massachusetts, this positionworks out of our Miami office

  • hybrid, 3 days a week in the officeand 2 days from home.

Extensive knowledge of construction principles, practices,procedures, means and methods. Excellent verbal and written communication skills inEnglish. Demonstrated initiative, follow through, resourcefulness,efficiency and attention to detail. Strong working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel,PowerPoint). Ability to learn new software and applications. Ability to quickly learn organization structure andstakeholders. Ability to create a culture of inclusion and belonging byacting with courage, humility and curiosity; desire to learn aboutothers and self-reflect.
