Senior Patient Accounts Specialist | Lake Charles, LA | Contract Walker Healthforce is seeking a Senior Patient Accounts Specialist for a healthcare client located in Lake Charles, LA. This is a contract opportunity.

JOB SUMMARY

Perform billing, A/R follow-up, and credit balance resolution to ensure timely and accurate claim payments.
Identify and analyze revenue cycle trends and root causes to recommend process improvements.
Provide exceptional customer service to internal teams, insurance representatives, and patients.
Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of follow-up efforts in the practice management system.
Educate patients on insurance benefits and billing issues as needed.
Adhere to all HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality and protection of patient health information.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Extensive Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9

Coding Principles:

Fundamental to accurate billing and claim submission across multi-specialty physician practices.

Thorough Understanding of Government and Commercial Payer Guidelines:

Required to effectively resolve billing issues, ensure regulatory compliance, and support optimized reimbursement.

Years of Physician Billing Experience:

Essential for independently managing the full billing cycle including claim submission, A/R follow-up, credit balance resolution, and appeals.
Proficiency in PC skills in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Word and Excel
In-depth understanding of reimbursement methodologies and both government and commercial payer guidelines.

Core Skills:

Effective oral and written communication
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work independently and within a team
Advanced knowledge of medical terminology
Proficiency in handling all phases of the physician billing cycle including:
Claim submission
Rejection resolution
Denial management
Secondary appeals
Refund processing
