Responsibilities
Obtains the highest possible income from projects and limits to the maximum possible extent the Company’s liability and exposure to damages. Ensures proper organization of the Contract departments at project and area level. Provides contractual advice and support to the area management, on an ongoing basis and reports risks, opportunities, and threats to Lane at all levels. Advises and directs the project Contract Manager’s activities ensuring compliance with job descriptions and Contract Department operating procedure. Pursues project contractual/legal and financial entitlements through proactive supervision of contractual correspondence and contractual notices prepared by the project Contract Managers and produces the same when required. Directs and, where appropriate, presents requests for engineer’s determinations and dispute board submissions [pre-arbitral DR steps to be made with executive approval]. Advises on and/or prepares and defends claims against the employer/owner, subcontractors, major suppliers and JV partners. Advises and supports litigation and arbitration management and conduct. Ensures that the document management system for each project is established and maintained according to Webuild guidelines, that suitable project records regarding resources and production are maintained. Periodically reviews site records. Supports the preparation of and reviews reports for executives. Prepares for and participates in Company’s Performance Dialogues, when required. Creates and obtains agreement on contractual/legal strategy. Supports the creation of briefing documents. Establishes and maintains relationships with other contractors and strategic partners. Provides assistance with tender reviews and other procurement activities as are relevant to the area and are defined by Company procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. 10 years of contract management experience in construction industry (and DOT projects strongly preferred)
Knowledge of all aspects of the contracting process Long term contract experience preferred Construction experience required
Physical Requirements:
Corporate or Area office (No project/site expectations): Employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to use fingers to grasp, move and manipulate small objects. The employee must have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to speak clearly so listeners can understand and understand the speech of another person. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and will occasional be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
