The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management. This position serves as a Division Grants Administrator with a complex degree of scope and multiple functions. Responsible for weekly invoicing process for SEO’s Grants and Contracts. Processes reimbursement requests from sub grantees and/or subrecipients. Reconciles monthly expenditure reports. Coordinate, review and evaluate federal and state grants for compliance, accuracy and accountability of financial programs and business operations related to the unique grant programs.

Key Responsibilities:

Review program grants to ensure expenditures are aligned with approved budget and scope of work; collaborate with internal State Energy Office team to ensure adherence to all grant requirements. Responsible for reviewing, generating and routing monthly invoices for successful payment processing. Generating expenditure reports for appropriate grants and contracts budget funds Ensures timely monthly, quarterly and annual grant reports for distribution to program and technical staff. Responsible for reconciling grant ledgers for accuracy. Performs necessary reclasses and/or fund shifts for management review. Maintain files and records as required by State and Federal record retention law, regulations and policies. The Division of State Energy The DEQ State Energy Office serves as the agent of energy planning and program development to ensure a sustainable energy future for the citizens of North Carolina. This Division provides services and technical expertise on energy efficiency, encourages the growth and development of the state’s energy economy, and works to increase the use of renewable energy and alternative fuels. The State Energy Office supports energy efficiency in public buildings by assisting North Carolina governmental units manage the use and cost of electricity, water, and other utilities in their facilities. The State Energy Office provides programs, services, and technical expertise for advancing energy efficiency, increasing alternative energy and fuel sources, providing educational opportunities for the public, state and local governments, universities, schools, and businesses, and working closely with other state agencies in responding to energy emergencies during natural disasters and supply interruptions.
