Summary:

The specialist will be responsible for researching accounts involved in an active bankruptcy to see if a proof of claim should be filed. The specialist will also gather information from the Trustee Websites for purposes of verifying payments and filing transfers of claim. This position reports to the Unsecured Bankruptcy Operations and Client Servicing Director.

Roles & Responsibilities:

+ Access Chapter 13 trustee websites to confirm payments and trustee claim numbers. + Search for prior bankruptcy information to determine if purchased/serviced accounts were involved in a prior bankruptcy. + Research for the filing of both proof of claim and transfer of claim. + Research accounts to see if they qualify to be put-back to the seller pursuant to contract criteria. + Complete special projects including due diligence files that may be requested prior to portfolio purchase. + Update case information housed in our case repository; changes in the Bankruptcy Notification system often stem from incoming paper mail and emails as well as from the need to potentially match an account to a case.

Skills & Qualifications:

+ 1-2 years of previous bankruptcy experience preferred. + Legal related experience preferred. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Ability to multi-task. + Proven organizational skills including the ability to prioritize duties, track tasks, and follow up on outstanding items. + Excellent work ethic and exceptional attention to detail. + Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc..). + Candidate must be detail-oriented.
