The Contract Manager will oversee the operational, contractual, and logistical aspects of transportation services, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and optimal resource allocation. This role includes responsibilities related to driver training, dispatch coordination, fleet management, and route optimization. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, and a commitment to safety and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Driver Training & Compliance Coordinate the work of drivers and trainers, ensuring coverage and efficiency. Lead training programs for new and existing drivers, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Monitor drivers for compliance with drug and alcohol testing, physical requirements, and safety regulations. Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel training, including first aid and special needs transport. Maintain up-to-date training materials and ensure quality control. Conduct driver safety training classes and periodic evaluations for instruction enforcement. Ensure compliance with physical examination requirements for drivers. Dispatch & Fleet Coordination Oversee daily dispatch operations, ensuring efficient scheduling of drivers and vehicles. Assign specific work schedules and direct bus drivers and route specialists. Arrange for substitute drivers as needed and respond to emergency coverage needs. Maintain files and records related to driver schedules, sick leaves, routes, licensing, and other compliance matters. Work closely with service and repair terminals to ensure vehicle readiness. Respond to customer complaints and inquiries, ensuring issues are handled professionally and efficiently. Routing & Operations Management Plan and establish efficient bus routes and prepare maps for each route and assigned drivers. Conduct site assessments for safety, bus stop locations, and traffic flow. Utilize routing software to create schedules and improve service delivery. Perform surveys of stops and boundaries as needed for administrative planning. Ensure transportation services align with company policies and local regulations. Monitor and optimize operational costs, including fuel efficiency and maintenance expenses.
Other Essential Functions:
Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Assist in emergency planning and response. Process employee time records and ensure accurate payroll processing. Be on-call 24/7 for emergencies and operational concerns. Operate buses when required to ensure service continuity.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in transportation operations, training, and compliance. Strong knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices. Ability to coordinate schedules, train staff, and manage logistics. Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in transportation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience and Training:
Two or more years of experience in transportation operations or contract management. Experience training drivers and managing fleet logistics. Experience in dispatching, routing, or coordinating transportation services.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) with P (passenger) endorsements. Certification in transportation safety and training (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, and operate vehicles for extended periods. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Vision and hearing sufficient to operate vehicles safely. Capability to react quickly in emergency situations and perform essential physical tasks.
