Development and Fundraising Description Senior Director of Development I, Collat School of Business The University of Alabama at Birmingham The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Senior Director of Development I for the Collat School of Business who has excellent fundraising skills and knowledge in creating development strategies for complex projects. The incumbent will have demonstrated experience developing and implementing strategies for identifying, cultivating and soliciting individuals, corporations and foundations for major gifts. The Senior Director I is expected to meet/exceed established metrics on an annual basis – including dollar, visit, solicitations and proposals presented goals. The incumbent must be able to function as an integral part of a team in designing and implementing successful fundraising programs which include annual giving, planned giving, and major and mid-level gifts to maximize philanthropic support for the School. This position will also lead and direct a staff of development and alumni professionals assigned to the School. This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Development and coordinate his or her daily activities with the Dean and other University officials. Travel is required for this position. This position is hybrid eligible after the probationary period.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work with Dean, Department chairs and faculty to identify potential sources of private gift support and develop appropriate strategies to generate major gifts to support the School.
Build and manage a portfolio of high-worth prospects to raise major gifts from multiple donor groups (corporations, foundations, alumni, and community).
Manage an overall strategic vision for the development and alumni office including developing and implementing fundraising strategies and plans as well as hiring and coaching/developing all team members.
Foster a culture of philanthropy and collaboration within the school community through outreach, education, and engagement.
Salary Range:
$89,880 – $146,055 Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business or a related field
Minimum of seven years of higher education fundraising or related experience required
Minimum of three years of major gift experience with demonstrated success
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to conceive, plan and implement fundraising programs which focus on building internal and external relationships
Ability to lead and mentor a development staff while also successfully meeting performance metrics
Advanced knowledge of foundations
Advanced board management
Excellent written and verbal communication
Experience in higher education
Strong organizational, process and planning skills
