The Director of Alliance Management is pivotal in creatingan environment and processes that optimize the value of strategicpartnerships with third-party partners involved in productdevelopment and licensing projects/agreements. This role ensuresthe cultivation of strategic alliances with our partner communityto achieve mutual objectives and maximize collaborative value. Theyare entrusted with safeguarding the revenues generated through ourstrategic partnerships with third-party partners.
Key capabilitiesinclude the effective management of partner selection andformation, alliance design and governance, and post-formationrelationship maintenance. The Director guides decision-making atcritical inflection points, ensures milestone achievement, convenesrelevant stakeholders, and secures their support for the alliance.
Additionally, they excel in problem-solving, conflict resolution,and timely escalation.
Job Responsibilities Collaborate closely with BD teams and key cross-functionalstakeholders (Regulatory, Quality, Legal, R D, commercialmarkets) to drive strategic initiatives. Oversee all critical internal functional activities related tothird-party development and supply partnerships, ensuring seamlessoperations. Act as the primary point of escalation internally, ensuringtimely and effective issue resolution. Cultivate trusted relationships with key stakeholders inpartner organizations globally, fostering strong alliances. Implement best practices to ensure seamless collaboration withApotex while safeguarding our business interests. Develop and maintain robust governance structures andcommunication processes to ensure compliance with regulatoryrequirements, internal policies, and partnership objectives. Manage and negotiate new and existing agreements, drivingcontinuous revenue improvement. Collaborate with finance to prepare financial scenarios andsensitivity analyses for investment cases on potentialproducts/deals, ensuring alignment with agreed-uponthresholds. Participate in CD Monthly Meetings and Quarterly Reviews,assisting in target setting and preparing ongoing performancereports. Oversee risk assessments and financial due diligence forcurrent and potential strategic partners. Review and approve external BD partner profit-sharingcalculations and milestone payments, ensuring accuracy, timeliness,and compliance with contract terms/obligations. Proactively identify and address issues and opportunities,driving effective resolution. Monitor and evaluate the performance of key partnerships at theproduct and supplier levels, identifying and acting on areas forimprovement. Identify and pursue opportunities to enhance or expand existingpartnerships and explore new collaborations. Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators and dashboardsin collaboration with partners. Support joint business review meetings with key partners on aquarterly basis, ensuring alignment and strategic progress.
JobRequirementsEducation Bachelor’s degree in business and/or science.
Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities Possesses extensive knowledge and understanding of thecomplexities of pharmaceutical supply chains, with a focus on theNorth American market. Demonstrates a proven ability to collaborate effectively withthird-party partners on a global scale. Exhibits strong leadership skills in guiding cross-functionalteams and managing conflicting priorities. Proven track record of prioritizing and multitaskingefficiently in fast-paced environments. Experienced in contract negotiations, agreements, and termalignments. Well-versed in the pharmaceutical product developmentprocess. Strong negotiation, organizational, and analyticalskills.
Experience Minimum of 7-10 years demonstrated ability to leadcross-functional groups comprised of internal and external teams ina highly fast-paced and complex global pharmaceutical environment,dealing with conflicting priorities. Minimum of 7-10 years of complex project management experiencein a Global and International pharmaceutical environment;specifically deep knowledge of the Canadian and US markets. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in an Alliance management typerole or other applicable experience.
