The primary responsibility of the SBA Team Lead is to ensure their respective assigned team achieves its financial and credit quality goals and objectives. The SBA Team Lead will attain this by creating workforce stability by attracting, developing and retaining great SBA Business Development Officers (BDOs). The Team Lead (TL) will also oversee the execution of sales & service strategies.

  • Motivates and develops team members while monitoring progress against individual goals

  • Supports the team in achieving goals through coaching and modeling the behaviors and core values of BU Oversees the execution of sales & service strategies
  • In tandem with key service partners, the TL provides their team with support, and coaching, as they focus on the customers’ overall financial well-being leading to a White Glove banking experience
  • Connects strategy to daily activities and communicates, on a regular basis, wins, losses and or learnings
  • Effectively plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the team and processes to help them achieve success
  • Empowers the team to assist clients and prospects succeed financially by continuing to improve their overall presentation skills, industry knowledge and profiling techniques Manages and joins the team members in their daily activities (appointments) to ensure business acumen, interpersonal savvy, and presentation skills
  • Provide coaching and training to drive improvement in areas where needed
  • Focuses on the team’s ability to increase product penetration and retention by bringing the full range of BU’s products and services to the client Leverages reporting and sales tools to proactively identify and successfully drive results
  • Motivates and develops the team to leverage partners in the planning process – pre and post events.
  • Drives the team to build a strong pipeline of prospects, COIs and client referral Actively identifies and mitigates a variety of risks (regulatory, reputational, operational and credit risks) by coaching the team on the skills needed to analyze, evaluate, and mitigate those risks by utilizing advanced knowledge of credit fundamentals and internal policies Assumes an internal leadership role within the Bank within the geography the STM is located.

May serve as mentor to junior associates in other divisions and within the Small Business Administration. Is ultimately responsible for the credit quality of the team’s credit portfolio, including overall credit quality, timely annual reviews & renewals of credit facilities, delinquencies in financial reporting, covenant compliance, timely payment collection, etc. Implements and adheres to the structured credit process, conducts regular portfolio management forums with SBA BDOs and Portfolio Managers. Ensures team’s compliance with bank and credit policies, procedures, practices, and regulations. Works with SBA BDOs on Credit Consults with underwriting and credit partners to ensure viable new business opportunities are appropriately internally and externally managed during the solicitation and on boarding process Coaches team members and assists in developing and implementing action plans for assigned team Assists with the development of campaigns and promotions Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.). Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training. Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
