The Assistant Director, LDD, plays a vital role in growing the organization’s presence in both commercial and military sectors, with a specific focus on boat-building enterprises. This position is ideal for a driven, results-oriented professional with a strong background in manufacturing. In addition to strategic responsibilities, the Assistant Director supports the operational management of the LDD Division, working closely with the Director to ensure departmental success . Duties include, but are not limited to: Operations Management Coordinate and support daily departmental operations to drive efficiency and ensure alignment with overall organizational goals. Supervise production activities to ensure timely completion and compliance with internal quality benchmarks and external regulatory standards. Lead the monthly inventory cycle, ensuring accurate documentation and effective control of materials. Monitor raw material levels to ensure availability for ongoing production and promptly report any shortages to the Director of LDD. Contribute to proposal development and pricing estimates for military contracts. Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of new product initiatives, fostering innovation and continuous improvement. Assist with processing daily production orders, shipments, and receiving tasks within the designated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, ensuring accurate data entry, inventory tracking, and efficient workflow management Industry Representation and Strategic Impact Serve as a representative of the LDD at trade shows, symposiums, and industry events, effectively promoting the organization’s products and services. Evaluate the outcomes and effectiveness of trade show and symposium participation to enhance LDD’s visibility, outreach, and strategic impact. Leadership and Supervision Assist in recruiting and onboarding qualified personnel to support departmental needs. Provide ongoing supervision of team members, including conducting performance evaluations and managing timecard approvals via the Paycom system. Communicate expectations clearly, monitor performance, and deliver coaching and feedback to ensure optimal team productivity. Enforce company policies and maintain a professional, ethical work environment. Serve as Acting Director, LDD, in the absence of the Director, ensuring seamless leadership and operational continuity. Perform additional duties as assigned to support the division’s goals and broader organizational mission. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred; alternatively, a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is required. Must successfully pass a background check for access to military and federal installations (mandatory). Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary. Prior U.S. Navy experience is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners. Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated success managing competing deadlines under pressure while maintaining a customer-focused mindset. Physical ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; must be able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed. Willingness to travel, including multi-overnight stays and occasional weekend commitments. Valid driver’s license required.
