The Associate MarketClinical Director will directly supervise, performance manage andtrain Clinical Directors within in his/her assigned market. Theincumbent in this role is accountable for center performanceobjectives, P&L, growth, and culture. In addition to beingaccountable for the overall clinical outcomes of his/her assignedmarket, they will have a portion of their time allocated to directpatient care as a PCP and/or other clinical duties. The remainderof their time allocated to leadership responsibilities includingClinical Director performance, engagement, building a strongclinical-operations synergy and culture. The allocation of time isdependent on several factors including PCP capacity, market needs,size of centers, patient membership and Regional Presidentdirection.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Directs accountability for clinical outcomes and day-to-daymanagement of Medical Directors in multiple centers within assignedmarket, with regular presence in the centers under directmanagement, and under the supervision of the RegionalPresident. Ensures successful clinical operations and meeting/exceedingplan market earnings. Manages, mentors and coaches Medical Directors in his/herassigned market to deliver outstanding clinical outcomes. Oversees and facilitates talent development of the PCPs, NPs,and Medical Directors in his/her centers including, but not limitedto leading facilitated practice (physician shadowing/coaching),conducting 1:1s with direct reports, executing leadershipdevelopment plans and performance management. Cultivates a center-level physician culture that is fullyaligned with and delivering on the ChenMed core model, core values& behaviors and service standards. Assists Clinical COE in training of new practitioners withinthe assigned centers. Participates in recruiting and interviewing PCP and specialistcandidates. Partners with Clinical COE and Talent Acquisition to supportclinical talent lifecycle to accelerate Clinical talent growth,including hiring of PCPs, NPs, and Medical Directors, managing, andmentoring physicians, role modeling exemplary clinicalleadership. Establishes and supports the development and cultivation ofsuccessful relationships with payers, specialists, the community,and hospitals, among others, and driving a social media presencelocally, as part of the core responsibilities for the role Monitors and supports overall market culture, responding withurgency to workplace concerns. Reviews/approves center-level referrals and provides back-upfor market referral and delegated utilization authorizations.

Otherduties as assigned and modified at Regional President’s discretion,which may include: Assists Regional President with market quality and performanceimprovement initiatives. Oversees monthly scorecard reviews and in conjunction withClinical Leadership, for delivery of quarterly clinical metricanalysis. Provides training to other ChenMed entities, as needed. Develops deep relationships with providers and key stakeholdersin the market. Uses the understanding of the local market dynamics to driveclinical initiatives. Builds clinical credibility and trust to deepenrelationships. Assists with implementation of cost reduction and marketclinical strategies. Delivers outstanding clinical outcomes and service to patientpanel as a PCP (20%). Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’sdiscretion.

Technical knowledge and skills:

Excellent clinical skills. Knowledge and experience in a managed care deliverysystem. Knowledge of clinical outcomes and quality improvementprocesses. Experience of population risk management or complex chronicdisease care management. History of being a natural teacher to fellow Physicians.

Other skills and abilities:

Good analytical skills. Ability to build relationships with externalorganizations. Conflict management and resolution skills. Familiar with, if not proficient in Microsoft Office Suiteproducts, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Computer skills:

Comfortable with the electronic medical record(EMR) and facile with keyboarding. Ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally up to 30%of the time. Spoken and written fluency in English This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA

MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics orsimilar specialty required A minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience required; 3 yearspreferred. Strongly prefer one (1) years’ previous experience as MedicalDirector or equivalent with a Medicare or Medicaid patientpopulation Board eligibility is required. Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine,Geriatrics or similar is preferred, but hires may have othersub-specialty training and board certification. Current, active license to practice medicine in State ofemployment. High performing physician with a proven track record ofclinical leadership experience. Must have completed all internal physician training and haveattained partnership. Experience with population risk management or complex chronicdisease care management. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams in qualityimprovement and/or medical/healthcare leadership activitiespreferred. Preferred to be an existing high performing PCP partner and/orMedical Director within the ChenMed core model, with a provenability to manage a panel of > 400 patients with outstandingclinical, customer service and cost outcomes. Preferred to havebeen with the organization > 2 years, be a recognized leaderamongst peers, and can lead teams in quality and performanceimprovement initiatives. If specialty, has demonstrated leadership within his/herspecialty and delivered superior outcomes, with a proven ability todeliver primary care in our model.
