JOB SUMMARY

SERVICE

LINE ADMINISTRATOR- POST ACUTE AND CARE TRANSITIONS

coordinates patient care, manages budgets, and enhances operational and financial performance. They provide strategic leadership, align the service line’s strategy with health system priorities, and act as the central contact for stakeholders. Additionally, they drive program development, market growth, and clinical integration, while setting and tracking performance goals.

JOB FUNCTIONS
Coordinate:

Coordinate care and services for patients treated within the service line.
Assure patient satisfaction goals, clinical goals and quality standards are met.
Business Operations
Responsible for all aspects of business conducted within the Service Line; understands, monitors and improves the financial performance of the service line; oversees the operational and quality components; manages the implementation of programs; evaluates programs effectiveness and ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations.
Develops, recommends, and implements the annual operating plans and programs consistent with the strategic direction established by the health system executive leadership team.
Analyzes patient, physician and employee satisfaction data and develops action plans to appropriately address concerns and foster an environment which reinforces employee and physician engagement and the patient experience.
Develops a comprehensive service line dashboard to monitor critical metrics associated with program success and goal achievement; develops and implements ongoing cadence of dashboard review using structured performance management tools.
Supports standardization through the consistent application of policies and procedures and legal compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Cooperates in the development, approval, execution and monitoring of contractual agreements.
Responsible for performance improvement, patient safety, development of quality measures and indicators, and regulatory compliance; utilizes benchmarking data to continually achieve higher levels of excellence and cost effectiveness.
Ensures budgets are completed in accordance with service line growth targets.
Leads financial planning for the service line in collaboration with Finance department (budget, pro formas, etc.) and develops financial summaries and presentations as needed for senior leadership review.
Ensures frequent and comprehensive review of financial performance and provides sufficient justification for and/or action plans to address budget variations.
Authorizes expenses within scope of authority.
Oversees capital equipment planning and purchase process for service line, in collaboration with department leaders.
Strategy
Leads the design & deployment of system-wide service line strategy and operating model across all sites of service, contributing relevant data and insights to inform the planning process; mindful of consumer, payer and provider market trends, financial aspects, access, operations and quality goals to improve strategic, operational and financial growth.
Collaborates with Strategic Planning and Business Development leaders to operationalize strategic plans, incorporating the health system strategic priorities into overall operations.
Leads the development of a service line physician strategy to inform recruitment efforts.
Executes marketing and communication plans in conjunction with the Corporate Communications Department as a means of increasing market share and creating community awareness of orthopedic services.
Builds effective relationships and engages in active community and regional outreach to providers and hospitals.
Maintains content knowledge of changing clinical patterns of care/technology that influence strategy.
Reviews market share, physician referral, payer mix and reimbursement and patient experience data with teams on a quarterly basis.
Leads analysis, recommendations, and implementation for program expansion and new market entry initiatives designed to increase volume and market share, incorporating appropriate leadership and stakeholder engagement.

Leadership:

Practice operations management including prioritization and allocation of department resources.
Coordinates with Physician Recruitment and Retention, physician and mid-level recruitment at the regional and practice level to optimize use of recruiting resources and to fill open positions with quality candidates.
Maintains close working relationship with each program and specialty Medical Director, Chief Medical Officer, and Section Chiefs and Chairs and provides oversite to the governance and section/stakeholder meetings.
Collaborates with leaders and managers to plan for the provision and integration of new /additional health care services as needed as part of the service line.
Assures patient experience goals, department goals, and quality goals are met.
Coordinates with the Medical Staff office to ensure that all providers are credentialed prior to scheduling.
Aligns and implements clinical goals and visions with NMMC mission and values.
Initiates strategic planning for financial, operational, and clinical services for the service line.
Provide aligned leadership, strategic planning, and craft the vision for the ongoing growth of the service line.
Develops and revises department goals and objectives necessary to support organizational strategic objectives.
Collaborates with executive and other leaders on alignment of services with the service line.
Program development within the Post Acute and Care Transitions service line to include research, expansion, growth, and development.
Assemble and maintain a board of advisors for the Post Acute and Care Trnansitions to create alignment between all providers and create access to care, improve quality outcomes, improve efficiency of care provided, and impact growth, market share, and financial margins.

Supervise:

Supervise and provide coaching for employees within the service line within the Post Acute and Care Transitions areas including Director, Home Health and Hospice, all Nursing Home Administrators, System Director of Case Management and UR, as well as Palliative Medicine and Pastoral Care.

Budget:

Provide direction to above departments in developing and managing personnel, expense, capital and revenue budgets and maintaining productivity targets.
Develop and implement processes to continually improve operational effectiveness and financial performance within the Service Line.

Plan and Implement:

Develop and implement annual goals based on the NMMC Critical Success Factors.
Develop strategic and financial plans for Post Acute and Care Transitions service line across the health system.
Activities will include business plan development, market research, achieving physician/community buy-in; assuring patient access, patient satisfaction, and high quality of care standards are achieved.
Define the strategic vision and align with market needs, drive performance and change with data driven management, and foster a transparent communication and collaboration culture.

Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics
Reviews budget for all cost centers within scope of responsibility
Develops annual goals and strategic initiatives for Service Line
Evaluates and provides coaching for all employees within the scope of responsibility
Develops/implements/evaluates outcomes and operations of areas within scope of responsibility
Assures compliance with productivity targets for all cost centers
Participates in medical staff committees/sections and other organizational committees to discuss various issues impacting nursing and health care
Ensure adequate staffing guidelines
Serve as a “role model” while promoting, enforcing, and adhering to organizational policies/procedures and employee guidelines
Must have extensive contact with: patients, physicians, and all staff in the assigned product line/departments.
The incumbent will, from time to time, act as the public spokesperson to radio, TV and newspaper audiences on behalf of North Mississippi Medical Center.
